Our Learning & Development Centre sits at the heart of our organisation, delivering a dynamic, engaging and practical training offer to every adult working in our homes. With over 150 courses delivered each year, our programme blends mandatory training with a wide range of CPD opportunities, tailored to the evolving needs of the children we support.
We do not believe in one-size-fits-all. So, whether you are new to residential childcare or have been doing this for years, we will tailor your development to where you are and where you want to go.
As well as the essentials, including Therapeutic Parenting, First Aid, Food Safety and Safeguarding, we run a wide range of specialist sessions built around the needs of the children we care for, including:

We will also fully support you in undertaking professional qualifications, including the fully funded Level 4 Apprenticeship in Residential Childcare, building expertise while developing long-term careers.
For those stepping into leadership, our comprehensive leadership support programme and ‘Leaders for the Future’ succession pathway provide structured development, mentoring and stretch opportunities to prepare the next generation of leaders.
Your Career Path At Amegreen
Fully Funded Level 4 & 5
Every member of our care team is supported to achieve their Level 4 Residential Childcare apprenticeship, fully funded and with dedicated time to study built in.
We don’t just say we invest in our people. We put the funding behind it. Your Level 4 qualification costs you nothing and takes nothing away from your working day. We’ve made sure of that. For those who are ready to go further, we also support progression to Level 5, opening the door to senior and leadership roles for those who want to grow with us.

Leadership Pathway
Our structured leadership pathway combines mentoring, bespoke training programmes and the Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification to prepare our next generation of managers.
At Amegreen, we don’t recruit managers from outside, and hope for the best. We grow them. We look for people already in our homes who have the values, the drive and the potential to lead, and we build a pathway around them.
That means real mentoring from people who understand what leadership in residential childcare actually looks like. Bespoke training that goes beyond the theory. And a recognised Level 5 qualification that opens doors to progression and opportunity.

Real Routes to Senior Roles
We believe in growing our own. We actively promote from within and many of our current managers started their Amegreen journey as Support Workers. You could too.
This isn’t something we say to make the job sound more attractive. It’s just the truth. The people leading our homes today are the same people who were sitting where you are now, learning the ropes, building relationships with children and finding their feet in residential care.

Fun and engaging Training
All of our courses are dynamic, engaging and practical. We know that the best learning doesn’t happen when you’re sat staring at a screen. It happens when you’re involved, when conversations flow, and when training feels relevant to the real work you do every day.
Our trainers are passionate about what they do, and that shows. Every session is designed to be hands-on and inclusive, so whether you’re brand new to care or you’ve been doing this for years, you’ll leave feeling inspired rather than drained. No jargon, no death-by-PowerPoint – just meaningful training that actually sticks.
Training tailored to your children
We do not run generic programmes. Your training is shaped around the specific needs of the children in your home, so everything you learn is immediately relevant.
No two children are the same, and no two homes are the same, so it wouldn’t make sense for everyone to sit through identical sessions regardless of who they care for. At Amegreen, we take the time to understand the children you work with and build training around them. That means when you walk back through the door after a session, you’re not trying to work out how it applies to your world. You already know, because it was built with your children in mind.
There’s a real difference between training that ticks a box and training that genuinely makes a difference. We aim for the latter every time.
Trauma Informed care
As a therapeutic organisation, we recognise that children’s experiences of trauma can have a significant impact on their behaviour. That’s why everything we do, and everything we teach is rooted in that understanding.
Our training doesn’t just tell you what trauma is; it helps you see the child behind the behaviour. It helps you understand that behaviour is a form of communication, you’ll develop a deeper awareness of why children respond the way they do, and how to meet them with the patience, consistency and empathy they need to begin to feel safe.
When your whole team speaks the same language and holds the same values, that’s when real change happens, for the children, and for you.
Protected time to study
Your Level 4 Apprenticeship comes with dedicated time built into your working week. We don’t ask you to fit learning around your job. We build your learning into it.
We know that the people who work at Amegreen are committed, hardworking, and often juggling a lot. The last thing we want is for your development to feel like another pressure on top of an already full day. So we protect your study time, because when you feel genuinely supported to grow, everyone benefits.
Our L&D team are on hand to support you from start to finish, offering one-to-one guidance and access to a comprehensive library of books and resources to help you through your studies. You, your colleagues, and most importantly, the children in your care.

A mentor who genuinely knows you
As part of our leadership pathway, you will be matched with an experienced leader who will guide, challenge and champion your growth within Amegreen.
This isn’t a tick-box exercise. Your mentor will take the time to get to know you properly, understand where you are in your journey and help you figure out where you want to go. They’ve walked the path before you and they’re here to share what they’ve learned, open doors and be honest with you when it matters.
